About the Borough
State Island is a part of Richmond County on New York Bay. It is the state's southernmost city.  The borough is home to 477,377 residents and is the least populated and most suburban of all 5 of New York's boroughs. The most urban parts of the borough are on the north shore with the most suburb parts on the south shore. Staten Island is home to the world's 4th-largest boardwalk, the 2.5-mile FDR Boardwalk.

Culture and Attractions
With such a diverse population, there is plenty of culture to be found in Staten Island. There are 9 distinct museums in the borough including the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, which is a gathering of historical buildings and botanical gardens along the Kill Van Kull. Other borough attractions include the Historic Richmond Town, a living history village and museum complex where visitors can explore the diversity of the American experience. The 100-acre site includes artfully restored buildings, including homes, commercials and civil buildings. Also, the Staten Island Zoo is an 8-acre facility that is the country's first zoo.
